: ̗̀➛ This sort of put me in a reading slump???but okk. Had HIGHER expectations since it was so hyped here on goodreads AND tiktok.
-‘๑’- The characters felt a little flat but ok. I needed more entertainment ok? It just felt very bland so, it bored me a little bit.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ They were cute, so sad it ended so fast. Of course i was sad when Jest died, the ending was not what i expected at all. She wanted to be a baker, after all💔💔💔

If only I wasn’t spoiled then maybe I would have loved this book more but it was still good. Knowing that this is the queen of hearts origin story made this a bit enjoyable for me. I’m also in love with Jest and wished we got more of him.

i will never recover from this book… she just wanted to live with him and have her bakery:(

This definitely wasn't a boring book, however, there are several things that contributed towards the 3 star rating.
The first one that registered pretty early on was how quick the romance happened. I feel like there should have been a bit more build up because I think that would have helped me connect with the characters better than I did. I did quite like Jest, who reminded me somewhat of Cardan (although that may be because I just finished TCP series).

I'm sorry but I wasn't a fan at all of this one. The writing was good and yes it kinda made the queen of hearts understandable in the end but it was so hard to get into but I kept at it and just finished. I love the cinder series so really surprised that I don't like this one. Ah well onto the next book. ...more

→ 3.5 ★ Though this was much too slow-paced for my taste, I did like how the author infused elements from Lewis Carroll's work to create the enchanted setting of the Kingdom of Hearts.
