Sometimes I wonder how different stories would be if they were written by someone else. I didn’t really like Sanderson’s writing honestly. It felt simplistic and repetitive. But there’s no doubt that he created a unique and compelling story with a wonderfully original hard magic system.
There were a few surprises, a few plot twists I didn’t expect at all.
Overall it was an enjoying and satisfying read, and I do want to read the rest of the series.

Despite all the hype surrounding this book, I went in with pretty low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised!
One problem I had with the book was the pacing. There was a lot of repetition of various information (eg. the magic system) throughout the book and ...more

This was my first Brandon Sanderson book and I absolutely adored it! I honestly can't remember the last time I loved a book this much. I laughed, cheered, gasped, and cried multiple times throughout this story. The world building and character development throughout this book was phenomenal! This is a story that I think I will carry with me and revisit often with fondness in the future. I can't wait to continue on with this series and see what else Brandon Sanderson has to offer.
