What Members Thought
I think that my opinion of this book does not match the general opinion.
I was pretty bored throughout and my mind kept wandering. I kept waiting for a big payoff, plot twist, that would bring my attention crashing back. I thought there might be some grand resolution beyond the symbolism and poetry of the writing, and there really didn't seem to be. Maybe I missed it while my mind was wandering.

I am so looking forward to reading this book.
Tonight I finished listening to this wonderful story and it's one of the best books that I have listened to in a long time.
The narration was absolutely brilliant and the book made me feel so many emotions it was unreal.
There is no glory in war only heartache and I am not ashamed to say this book made me cry.
I am most certainly going to listen to this audiobook again in the very near future.

This book is heart wrenching because you become quickly involved with the characters. I became very attached to the characters although I knew that not all of them would survive. The harshness of the WW2 setting was tempered by the simple joys of everyday life and loving relationships that the characters found to keep them going The writing was beautiful and lyrical. Iwas sorry that the book ended which is my gold standard for a great book.

If I could give more than 5 stars, then I would. This is most probably the best book I have ever read. The author appreciates the beauty in life, even in its darkest hours. And even through the eyes of a blind girl. Marie Laure becomes blind as a teenager, so she knows what the world looks like. Through touch, smell, and hearing she imagines her new world. She keeps up hope even when events turn dire for her and her family. At times, she believes that the jewel has given her bad luck. But she co

This was an amazing, beautiful, horrifying book. The characters and setting were well realized. I loved how radio and science interconnected the characters. The sadism of the Nazis and the hideous waste of life and potential was disturbing and heartbreaking. I’m not sure how I feel about the ending. I’ll write more later . . .
