Wow it's been 4 years since I read this book? Definitely doesn't feel like it. Suppose also because I've seen the movie since then. Was really pleased I was able to pick this book up as an audio because I had a long car trip that day, so was able to get through it quickly. I have to admit that at the end I zoned out (due to me playing games while I listened, which is never a good combo) so I don't 100% know how it finished, but I remember enough to delve into book 2 soon. One thing I found total

I'd say it's a 4 star book up until the final chapters that made me go *WAAAAAH!!!* and forced me to tack on the final star.
I recommend this book fully. To everyone. Especially you, reading this review.
P.S. Wipe that little smudge off your face. No the other side. There you go. That was distracting.
Are you still reading this? Go read this book, dag nabbit! ...more

It seldom happens that the movie adaptation of a particular novel helps me enjoy said novel, more. So you can imagine my surprise when this exact thing happened. What do I mean by this?
The Maze Runner moved very sluggishly, and majority of the characters were stale, like our MC Thomas. Since I enjoyed the movie and there weren’t a ton of differences between the two, I was able to imagine the movie playing in my mind as I read; This helped me tremend ...more

The was confusing at the start, what with all the alternate curse words and not understanding where they really were or why. I didn't particularly care that much for Thomas, he was a bit annoying and pushing to do things his way so quickly. The fact that a lot of the time that worked out better was disappointing, though it did show how you sometimes need a new perspective to solve things. (view spoiler)

When I first heard about this book , it didn't really interest me at all but then something sparked this morning and I thought, alright I'll give it a whirl and to my suprisement I actually enjoyed it alot. It was a great read and I think since I've been on a tad bit of a dystopian buzz , it made me enjoy it more. This is one dystopian novels that those of the male sex will really really enjoy as the whole line-up are teenage guys except for one girl who shows up about halfway through the novel.

More like 3.5 stars. I liked it well enough and want to read more; it just wasn't spectacular. It starts with a kid (Thomas) riding an elevator who has all his memories erased. He ends up in a community of other teens who have had the same thing done to them. Intriguing premise. Thomas's appearance is the beginning of the end for this group, as their society gradually falls apart through uncontrollable circumstances. The beginning is full of "What's going on?" -- "Can't tell you now" conversatio

After reading the summary of The Maze Runner I decided to give this book a go, and I can honestly say I was without a doubt gripped from beginning to end.
This story begins with the main character Thomas waking up in a place called the glade, with no memories other than his first name. We quickly discover that the glade is only inhabited by boys and that each month for the past two years a boy has arrived just as Thomas has. Then we discover the maze a maze that holds dark vicious creatures and ...more

That ending though. The only reason I didn't move on to the second book right away was because I was by the sea and ridiculously hot. can't wait to continue the series.
