I tried to like this! I love steampunk science fiction, I love YA. I understand sometimes the first book in a series takes time to build up but this dragged.
Just because it way YA didn’t mean the geo-political aspects of the story needed to be dumbed down, nor the sci fi elements. The romance was ok in pace. I am not a huge fan of retellings but this had so many other aspects it showed potential.

Cinder is a cyborg with an evil stepmother, living on a world devastated by a terrible plague. One day, the Prince stops by her stool... And the rest is story, or not.
Because this novel rewrites the classic fairy tale and makes of it something absolutely new.
The only thing that bothers me is that the next book in the series is about another fairy tale and we don't continue focused on Cinder. Because I love the character. But the author has promised Cinder will be around.
