Summary: Jude is a young human child, living in the normal human world with her mother, father, her older sister Vivinne, and her twin sister Taryn. When her parent's are murdered at the age of six, by her mother's ex-husband, Vivinne's father , Jude and her sisters have no choice but to follow their parents killer into a world full of magic. The world of fae, Elfhame. 10 years later, Jude wants nothing but to belong in this world, to belong in the High Court of Faerie. To gain knight hood. Betrayals are amiss and friendships and bonds are put on the line as she, a mortal in a world full of immortals, tries to gain power to prove all those who have doubted her wrong. Bloodshed and tears fill the land of Elfhame as secrets are revealed and as fae take action in the need for more power. And someone how Jude finds herself gets mixed into the mess. Forced to work with her bully, the cruel and spoiled Prince Cardan as she tries to save those she loves and the whole of Elfhame and the fae that call it home.
Favourite character: My favourite character is 100% Jude. I loved how she is willing to act strong, even when she isn't. She's willing to make gain a place in Elfhame. Wanting to prove that her life has meaning. The way she always has a plan and is willing to throw herself into danger to save those she loves is amazing. She's a great strategist and always plays things smart. I love how hard she works to reach her goals. Going as far as killing and making herself immune to poison just so she can gain more power and to make herself useful so she can destory her enemies. She has such a strong will and her acting skills are amazing. The way she can just casually threaten someone while meaning it is also admirable. I can't wait to read The Wicked King to see what happens next. Even though she's stuck in a bit of a situtation, I know she has a plan and is willing to make sure it works. My favourite quote from Jude would have to be “If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.”. I love this quote so much. It just proves how strong her will is.
Rating: 5 stars!! I loved this so much! Jude is amazing though I don't really like Taryn. I am 100% going to read wicked king. I'm sort of 50 - 50 about Cardan. I don't really like how arrogant he is but sometimes he just says the funniest things. Jude is an amazing character I love how she can be brave and if not she can act like she can. She is really clever and always finds another way, though Cardan might not like that. Definitely rating the book five stars. ...more
