short review: This book is boring as hell and I don't understand why people love this series so much.
I can't deal with this series anymore. I've tried and tried and tried to get into it, but it just does nothing for me. I kept hearing that the first book was kind of boring, but that the action picked up as the series progresses. Maybe that's true, but this book was a snoozefest and I refuse to waste any more of my life reading these books. I was literally almost bored to the point of tears while ...more

The sheer amount of character growth in this installment is astounding. I admit that at the beginning of the series, it was very difficult for me to see Calaena become the sort of hero that she needed to be. In Heir of Fire, she is able to start sorting through a lot of her trauma and make the decision to stop running from the bigger fight. Not to mention how the other characters are making giant leaps in solidifying what change they will be in this movement.

Wow. Give me more
I believe I need to go onto The Assassin's Blade next. Heir of Fire, whilst slow at first, perfectly sets up for the next book! ...more

What a fun journey. Celaena continues to grow beautifully, I love seeing her move through all her darkness and only grow brighter from it. Love the new characters and reading their journeys (hey, Rowan 😏) as well. I’m also glad I get to see Chaol still because although he didn’t always make the best choices he’s growing too and still holds a place in my heart. ❤️
