Excellent science fiction. This book has physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, machining, climate science and more. The adventure is compelling. The end is satisfying. It addresses interesting ethical questions.

I have 3 main observations:
a) I claim Rocky as my best friend
b) this book made me feel so hopeless and diminutive and it took me two weeks to finish it so it definitely took a toll on me
c) I was sobbing throughout the last three chapters for no good reason lmao I just felt so bad about everything that was happening
if something like this happened to Earth you better believe I'd just commit suicide and die knowing I've lived the best life Earth had to offer

DNF 20 pages in because the writing was irritating me. Way too childish. It’s like a tumblr post of someone trying (and failing) to be funny and quirky
