I thought this was overall a fun mystery/whodunit. I love the idea for the story, I think the cover is incredible, and I love the gothic 80s vibes. The perfect book to read in the fall. Some parts were a little slow for me and a bit far fetched/forced but overall I enjoyed the story and most of the twists.

A fantastic roller coaster of a mystery/thriller with plenty of genuinely unexpected twists and turns. It maintains a sinister tone while also managing to tug at your heartstrings. Overall, it’s a meticulously crafted mystery that genuinely surprises and thankfully delivers a satisfying ending. For me, it falls just short of being a 5-star experience, as there were moments when the pacing felt a bit slow, and it did take me a few days to get through it.

Jeez this book just kept going and going and going.
I was like oh ok so Mrs Baker did it I bet, then Mrs Baker was actually Lenora and then Kits dad was Ricky!!! Man I have so many emotions now. Like I cannot cope
Genuinely didn’t think it would have so many twists. I was a bit scared to read it at night time ahahah
My heart hurts for everything Virgina went through, what a slay she lived till 101

Holy COW was I surprised by all the twists and turns of this one. I found this book to be a real page turner and by the last 100 pages I was glued to my seat, frantically turning the page to see how it would end. I did enjoy the build up of the story as it slowly filled in the blanks of what happened that fateful evening in 1929. If I'm being honest, there were a few twists that I did sense coming but I was knocked off my feet by the rest. The author did a great job of building up tension and fl
