What Members Thought
This book is the start of my love for R.F. Kuang. I'm a sucker for historical fiction and highly praise those authors who can write a great fictionally story while tying it into real world events. The research behind novels like these amazes me, because I know it took a lot of not just writing, but fact checking. I have so many great things to say about this book, and so many conversation points that I took from it.

I really wanted to love this books since I gave her other work the poppy war 5 stars but I just couldn’t get into it. I understood the plot even though I sometimes got confused since English is not my first language but still pushed through. Even though I enjoyed it, It took me 4 months to read it since I kept putting it back, and that’s just a bad sign 😞
if you didn’t like this book you’re racist. made me wish i knew more languages and hate England even more!!! 5 stars!!!
