What Members Thought
I found this book very hard to comment on. I admired that the author picked such a sensitive and debatable topic and wrote an ironic and psychological story. But I’m not too fond of the narrative itself; it seems very purposely provocative,and the characters and plots are not sophisticated.

My first, but definitely not my last, R.F. Kuang book! She did such a good job with making you hate the characters, yet feel bad for them at the same time. I kept putting it down just out of irritation from June. Usually hating a character, nonetheless the main character, would make me read a lot slower or even just DNF the book, but I kept wanting to read the next thing June would do. The ending left me wanting so much more!
