As one of the top books of last year on multiple lists and the best book here on Goodreads, I expected a book that would be challenging and one that makes you think. At its core the story follows the very unlikeable character Juniper Song and how she steals the manuscript of her friend Athena Liu after a horrible accident kills her, and then goes ahead and publishes it as her own. Great beginning I was hooked— somewhat predictable of what is going to be the main storyline in the book right away.

Narrator has a pessimistic attitude about the world but at times it felt like satire and was funny! The middle got a little slow/negative for me, but it picks up in the end.

Ending of the novel takes an eerie turn but kept me interested and captivated! All in all I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a gen-z(ish) type vibe (verbiage specifically), with some twists.

It’s really hard for me to read a book where you are actively rooting against the main charecter. It was an interesting view on racism and loneliness. It was really hard for me to get through (which I know is the point). But just not my personal cup of tea.
