As one of the top books of last year on multiple lists and the best book here on Goodreads, I expected a book that would be challenging and one that makes you think. At its core the story follows the very unlikeable character Juniper Song and how she steals the manuscript of her friend Athena Liu after a horrible accident kills her, and then goes ahead and publishes it as her own. My first foray into audiobooks. I liked the narrator of this book and felt she really captured the main character. A different experience to reading, or even listening to a podcast which is a comparative medium, but still also quite different! The book itself is well crafted and thought provoking. This book was a wild ride from start to finish with a deeply unlikeable protagonist you couldn’t tear your eyes away from. I don’t think I’ll stop thinking about this book for a very long time. This is my first R.F. Kuang book but it certainly won’t be my last.
