What a touching story of family and courage. I highly recommend it for fans of the Anne of Green Gables era—similar subject, completely different angle. My only complaint is the cliffhanger. This book is part of the Looking Back in Time New Year Giveaway, so enter for a chance to win this book along with five other Christian historical novels. Runs through 01/22/24. This book was perfection. Her writing flowed beautifully which made this a quick read. It was disheartening to hear about the mistreatment of children especially helpless orphans but the grace of God sustains them and brings so much hope when it feels like there is none. He always cares and he is always there for us even when we feel all alone or feel unloved. This book was rich in faith. Can’t wait to see how this story concludes.
