"You can't battle someone who's lost everything."

Tijan seems to have a type when it comes to her characters. Another girl who's "dead inside" and has a vice to avoid her feelings. The vice in this case being Ryan.
There's always some sort of family drama, mostly with the parents neglecting their daughter, which in turn makes the heroine cold and unnecessarily harsh.
Another recurring factor with her heroines is that they're always trying to be very deep and philosophical. Case in point; Mac kept g

Ryan's Bed by Tijan is stunning. It's gripping, real, and raw. The depiction of loss and the effects it has on both an individual and the family are meticulous, as are how those in the friends and acquaintance circle may react. Ryan's Bed was a really great book and the last line is really intense. Tijan has a wonderful ability to create stories with deep characters that are going through some heavy things. Mackenzie ends up crawling into Ryan's bed that night accidentally and it really ...more

What courage & insight it took to write this book

The story was heartbreaking, the horrible loss, loneliness and pain of losing the person you shared the womb with. The slow painful process of recovery from that loss. This was a truly amazing book, kudos to Tijan for her ability to understand the experiences. This book could help people who are considering taking their lives to understand the pain they leave behind
