I have kind of mixed feelings about this book. I loved the world building and the following the three timelines/characters and not revealing their connection until almost the end (tho I figured part of that out fairly early on).

This was a little difficult to get into. And I wasn’t a fan of the use and switching between second and third person narratives. That threw me for a while. But my goodness! That second half! I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. I loved the characters by the end. The exploration of their characters, choices, desperation and pain were extremely uncomfortable but connected me to them strongly. And that magic system and world building was just astonishing!
