Wow! What a book! I've read plenty of books on the holocaust, but Lale's story was a whole new perspective. He becomes a tattooist and realizes very quickly it is all about staying alive, and keeping the woman he loves safe. Raw and gritty! I don't know how many tissues I went through, but I could not put this down. Please read this book! ...more

This was such a great retelling of the horrors of Hitler’s reign. I loved the entire book. Especially the author notes. That this was a retelling of an actual people really puts it in perspective. Ever since I was a child I’ve had a curiosity about the Holocaust. My family is from Germany just 2 generations ago, so I’ve always held a little guilt in my heart. Well done. This era should never be forgotten.

I loved it! Unbelievable story told. I do not normally cry when reading a book but this one really made me tear up SO many times. The MC was so brave and so helpful to the others and the romance was unexpected but so real at the same time. The pictures were so sweet. May the main characters rest in peace.
