Q:
Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I rarely left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite a bit of my abundant free time to thinking about death (c)

I'm absolutely amazed that so many people liked this book. I can't for the life of me figure out what the author was trying to accomplish by writing this. There is nothing ground breaking or earth shattering. This book is beautifully written by John green and makes you feel apart of the journey of Hazel and her family, Augustus and his family and also Isaac and the kids at the support group! The story which is tragic in itself is not the typical love story to expect! The book makes you laugh and cry and experience every emotion possible as a human being, the ending is a little to be desired but I love the book so much I am willing to overlook that factor

Everyone knows I'm a slow reader and this one took me forever, mainly because I had to stop almost every other paragraph to cry, esp towards the end! such a tearjerker! Very life affirming and at the same time quite depressing. Not the kind of book to read if you're already depressed. Wait till you're a little more euthymic. Perhaps seeing the film first would have made the read easier for me LOL (sniffle) ...more
