I'm absolutely amazed that so many people liked this book. I can't for the life of me figure out what the author was trying to accomplish by writing this. There is nothing ground breaking or earth shattering. His attempts at philosophy fall abysmally short and I am offended at his vulgar humor and self-righteous mockery of those that get up every day and fight for their life.

This is, by far, one of the hardest reviews I have had to write. I had actually won a print copy of this book in a giveaway or contest or blogging event of some sort last year, though I cannot currently remember which. I then proceeded to use my audible credit to acquire it this month. I then took the Kindle version out from a friend's public library (as she was kind enough to allow me to use her login for ebooks, since she does not use the service and my library sucks).

Everyone knows I'm a slow reader and this one took me forever, mainly because I had to stop almost every other paragraph to cry, esp towards the end! such a tearjerker! Very life affirming and at the same time quite depressing. Not the kind of book to read if you're already depressed. Wait till you're a little more euthymic. Perhaps seeing the film first would have made the read easier for me LOL (sniffle)

I wasn't prepared to be blown away by a book for "teenagers". It was a beautiful complement to my soul.
