Why did I seriously wait for movie to be advertised before reading this? It was awesome! I thoroughly loved the world building and characters in this book. I am so glad I have the next two books on my bookshelf to get to very soon. The world building and plot was so intriguing and an amazing concept and the author hit a home run with these characters! So enjoyable.
My quick and simple overall: fun and exciting read!

Yep! It was a good read, but definitely NOT the soul-touching, mind-blowing, emotionally-wrenching kind of book I have read in recent years. Although if I want to be blunt about it, I still am baffled by these Xmen(ish) superpowers these books are using to get the hype it wants to get. If not werewolves and vampires, you better have the ability to lick your elbows without twitching to belong to this genre.

I'm still waiting for the next break out YA dystopian novel. As I was reading The Darkest Minds I kept waiting for some new idea or storyline to emerge, but once again...a virus alters teens as they hit puberty giving them "super powers." Hysterical parents and a collapsing US government place teens in containment camps in which a group escapes and goes on the run. Does this sound familiar? Well it should if you read this genre of books.

The story was okay but I don't feel like continuing the series. Maybe I'm getting too old for YA dystopian novels.
