ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!

First and foremost, John Green portrayed how a person can be tortured by their own mind so well in Aza. My area of research is the use of literature for therapeutic purposes, so I have been keeping books that I believe could be helpful to clients I may come across after completing my PhD. This copy is heading to that bookshelf for sure. This is a book that the family and friends of those struggling with mental disorders can read and get a feeling of the absolute horror s

I really loved this book. I thought the ending seemed a little rushed , or maybe author was just not comfortable about the ending.
This book was not about the ending, it was about a girls battle with severe anxiety , and there is no real ending for that so in many ways it is unimportant. John green does an amazing job showing the trues horrors one deals with when battling such a condition. Having a family member who deals with it, IMO he does a remarkable job portraying it.

This is an amazing book about mental illness. John Green never disappoints me. I read all of his books except one, "looking for alaska" and I loved every single one of them.
This one in specific, was told in a more serious tone and paints a serious issue.
I liked the way it's written and the theme of the story. I Recommend this book to everybody.

Green does a good job showing how anxiety affects a young girl. The reader feels Aza's anxiety and struggle. Reading this book could help young people with mental illness understand that they are not alone. Plot of the book doesn't have much to recommend it, but then the book was written for Young Adults.

This novel raised awareness on mental health issues.

It was a bit too real for me because I suffer from a bit of OCD myself. I wish I can control myself but I really can't and people don't understand what I'm going through.

“It’s so weird, to know you’re crazy and not be able to do anything about it, you know? It’s not like you believe yourself to be normal. You know there is a problem. But you can’t figure a way through to fixing it. Because you can’t be sure, you know?”

I'm really glad I waited until I was in the mood to read this. 3.5 stars

Positives & Negatives:

+ John Green portrays mental illness and grief perfectly. The anxiety descriptions were spot on.
+ I love all the high brow literary references.
+ I LOVE all the fancy metaphors and analogies. I LOVE them.
+ There is so much beautiful astronomy.
+(spoilerish) I loved that the relationships weren’t the magical fix.

- The characters were a little boring but arguably more likable than past books. I started
