I was told by so many people that I would love this book, and they were completely correct. I devoured this book and enjoyed every single second of it. While it took me a good five page stop get into the book, once there I was fully watching the book as a full-length, 5 hour movie in my head. It was one of those stories where I had to stop myself from pushing ahead to know what happens.

Shadow and Bone is the first book in the Grisha Trilogy and is loosely based on Russian folklore.
A story about this average looking, and naive ( a lot naive) girl named Alina who reveals her dormant power when her Best friend- Mal, is attacked and saves his life. This gets her whisked into a royal court to be trained as a Grisha, the magical elites led by the mysterious Darkling to free her war- ravaged country from war and The Fold haunted by Volcras.

Shadow and Bone is a young adult fantasy that is well-written and thoughtfully planned. It is a solid first book that hits all the right marks that make the readers thirst for more action, drama, and romance.
