I just love a bad ass female heroine. Kelsey has many of obstacles to overcome in this book and a large learning curve to master in such a short period of time. I was rooting for her the entire time. Erika Johansen didn't waste my time with over developing of characters and landscape and I appreciate that. Can't wait for the third book.

Kelsea always knew that she would ascend the throne at 19. But she knew little of her mother’s reign as queen. For 19 years she had been safe and hidden from the world by Barty who showed her love and nature and Carlin who showed her strength discipline and justice. She has much to learn about the world of Tearling and about being a leader. But first she has to survive her trip to the throne.
