One of the best psychological thrillers I read recently. I was wowed hroughout the book, except for a few pages in the middle when I started thinking, 'Oh, now I will have to give it 4 stars'. But then things began to warm up. I just fell in love with the English countryside background [Ashbury], Rachel, the 30 something jobless, alcoholic lady who is trying to redeem herself and failing at each attempt, but never giving up hope; Anna, who is chronically stressed out and insecure about her husba ...more

This is one of those books that I was thinking about even when I wasn't reading it. My go-to book when I was waiting in lines or at the doctor's office, that would engross me to the point where I would forget I was waiting for anything at all. Certainly the "it" book of the first quarter of 2015, with countless comparisons to Gone Girl. The one thing I found in common with the two books: the characters themselves were not anyone I cared a great deal about.

What can I say? There were times I really enjoyed this book, and then others that I wished the author would hurry and get to the details I cared about.

I loved the fast paced pull and drive behind the murder mystery thriller, that made up most of the story. However, I felt the story became bogged down with emotional baggage and the predictable actions of characters.

When all was said and done the ending was kind of underwhelming. Although there were a lot of hidden details brought to light, I felt

Everyone in this book is absolutely awful. That being said: Brilliant story.

Enjoyable, dark, keeps the pages turning. But I guessed the ending a little too early for my taste. Would have preferred extended titilation (sp) and surprise. Would recommend for a summer read.
