What Members Thought

My feelings are all over the place after having finished this book.
I didn't hate it to the greatest extent, but certainly I didn't love it either. I'm of the opinion that the Harry Potter series should have ended with "The Deathly Hallows" and everyone's imagination about what may have happened after the finale should have been left alone. Jack Thorne -or anyone else for that matter- should probably have written a prequel, something that had to do with James Potter for instance or Snape or even ...more

It's not completely like the original Harry Potter, but it was 5-stars worthy to me because I had a moment to experience a world that I love, a world that has been pivotal in my life for nearly 14 years. I credit Harry Potter for teaching me the importance of perseverance, bravery, and friendship. To revisit these themes again was truly magical. JK Rowling possesses so much talent, and I credit her for helping me become the young woman I am today. Thank you JK Rowling for another amazing book. T

4,5 stars. When I started reading this book I didn't really knew what to expect. Yes, I knew it was written as a play but that was all my knowledge I had about. Also I had this book laying around the house for a few months (I bought it on the release date) before I started reading it, I didn't want to be disappointed by the story and ruin my Harry Potter memories.
I quite liked this book actually. The first page I had to get used to the format, but from the second page it was a quick read. This ...more

I really wish I could see this performed. Even the descriptions of the magic were so cool. I'm not going to really comment on the story itself since I'm sure no one wants spoilers, but I enjoyed the plot twists and the focus on the relationships of the characters.

It felt like a Rowling brain-child with someone else scripting the dialogue and actual characterizations (which is what it was...) so some of the characters definitely felt differ ...more

If you are looking for another Harry Potter installment similar to its predecessors then you'll be sadly disappointed with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2 writing style is completely different, it's in a screenplay format which in itself can be a different experience.
The story doesn't entirely centre around Harry but of his son Albus. While it highlights our favourite characters the focal point is always Albus and his relationship ...more

I like it. I definitely do not want to label it the 8th Harry Potter book, as it certainly doesn't feel that way. It was definitely enjoyable and I would love to see the play. I don't mind reading plays but I can understand people who don't or haven't not liking this. It's a much more character driven story with less backdrop which I can understand because it's play.
I don't think I'll be rereading this but I'm glad we got a small look at our favorite characters down the line. ...more

I liked this book but I was surprised to find that it was written as a screenplay. I think it was more about the relationship between Albus and his father, Harry Potter than the actual plot. After all, Albus has a lot to live up to. I also enjoyed Scorpius' character, which was also surprising since Malfoy is his lineage. I highly recommend it to anyone who has loved the Harry Potter series.

Not sure why this book has so many bad reviews. I loved reading about what life was after the 7th HP book for all the characters and their children. I'd like anything written in the Harry Potter universe though. I'd love to see this play!
