What a phenomenal novel! This should be required reading for high school students. Yes, it dealt with very heavy themes but that is what is going on out there. It felt so very real. And, the stream of conscience epistolary style played into the feeling of reality so well. I had seen the movie and was expecting a somber, almost morose novel. It was actually quite uplifting. I can still feel the ups and downs of my friendships in high school, and college for that matter, where I struggled to figur ...more

Even though this won't be on my fave shelf, I do believe I needed to read it in this moment of my life. This book is light, nothing that will leave you wondering for hours, but it has the power to make you grow while you read it, as if you were Charlie and you were learning how to breath and let go with him. ...more
