What a phenomenal novel! This should be required reading for high school students. Yes, it dealt with very heavy themes but that is what is going on out there. It felt so very real. And, the stream of conscience epistolary style played into the feeling of reality so well. I had seen the movie and was expecting a somber, almost morose novel. It was actually quite uplifting.
