This book excelled any expectations I had for this book. To be honest, when I finished The Hunger Games, I had a sort of preconceived idea of what was going to happen in Catching Fire (basically I just thought Katniss would mentor the following tributes to see the Capitol as bad and do other drastic measures like she did while in the arena). First, some props for Suzanne Collins. To be able to keep the attention of millions of readers of all ages without using bad language or sexual content is truly amazing. The second in the Hunger Games Trilogy, Catching Fire, is just as entertaining and filled with surprises. Well, I went into this book with false beliefs. I figured, it’s over. Nothing bad is going to happen now, so this is going to be kind of dry and boring. Not what happened at all. After all of the drama created in the first book, I really shouldn’t have been surprised at the way things went in this second book. There was shock and awe, romance and adventure.
