I keep seeing comparisons between this book and various others. But one I haven't seen mentioned is Robert Heinlein's Tunnel in the Sky. A bit old for the current YA market - seventies, maybe even sixties, but The Hunger Games reminded me of this throughout. Kids trying to survive in an "alien" environment.

HOLY COW!!! I absolutely loved this book!
Here's a brief (spoiler free) plot summary:

Although there were no huge surprises, she manages to twist the story to make you hungry for more. I'm now looking forward to the next one, with so many questions! What does Gale think of her performance? How are her family? What is the Capitol going to do to get her back? Can

Loved it! The story, characters and writing were excellent. Won't say much else since I'm late in the game but I am looking forward to seeing the movie and how the two compare to each other.
