I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. The first third of the book was hysterical! The antics between Ishmael and Queequeg had me laughing out loud while I read, causing some onlookers to wonder what was wrong with me!
The middle part of the book was truly interesting. Melville had some experience with whaling ships when he wrote this, and it's obvious in the amount of detail. Yet, it didn't come off as sounding like a textbook - I was positively enthralled with the sperm whale. I found ...more
