Clementine is a senior in college. She knows that many of her classmates view her as a bitch and standoffish, but she's ok with that. Being closed off and not wanting to date anyone keeps her from getting hurt again from a cheating boyfriend in college to a professor turned stalker her freshman year in college. She has a tight knit group of friends that know her and love her the way she is.

Clementine is a senior in college. She knows that many of her classmates view her as a bitch and standoffish, but she's ok with that. Being closed off and not wanting to date anyone keeps her from getting hurt again from a cheating boyfriend in college to a professor turned stalker her freshman year in college. She has a tight knit group of friends that know her and love her the way she is.

A writing assignment in one of her classes requires her to write a romance, which is so far outside her comfort zone. She's already an accomplished author, having penned one successful book, but doesn't feel that she has enough experience to draw a decent story from. Then she meets Gavin, who is a friend of Clementine's roommate. He's gorgeous and a big flirt but for some reason, it doesn't take long for Clementine to feel comfortable around him and they get to be good friends. He's even willing to help her out with her story, you know for purely research purposes. She soon realizes that she'd be ok with being more than just friends with Gavin, but will she be able to fully trust him to not break her heart?

I absolutely LOVED this book. I love Clementine. She's strong, and ready to face the world and all that comes her way. She's got a great group of friends and roommates who keep her off from going off the ledge as they support her and nudge her into opening up to more people, in particular, Gavin.

Gavin, what can I say about Gavin, other than I want a Gavin for myself. He's sexy and smart and gorgeous and a musician too. He knows what he wants but he knows to tread lightly as he and Clementine get closer and gives her plenty of time to get used to the idea of them being more than friends.

I don't have any hard feelings at all about how he handled the secrets he was keeping from Clementine. Sure she reacted, as only she would because of what she's had to deal with in the past, but his reasons were validated for me.

This was Lex Martin's first book and the first in a companion series, but I am looking forward to the next book, in the series!

There was a lot in this one. Friends, lovers, betrayal, mystery, suspense. It pretty much had it all. But at the core, there was a girl who was a little messed up and a boy who saw beneath it all so see how worth she truly was. And honestly, I could have eaten Gavin up with a spoon.

I just wish we could have gotten a bit more an epilogue for them, in the future because honestly, I wanted to see how they turned out. Hopefully we'll see more of them other books in the series. I definitely will cont ...more
