I've finished this six volume series of Anthony Trollope's. This is the largest series I've ever finished and it was definitely worth the effort. Mr. Trollope certainly could bring his characters to life and it's almost as if I've just left a houseful of friends. Like most of the authors of his time, he tends to be long-winded and repeats things a bit much for today's readers, but he more than makes up with his skills of writing. 100 pages to set up the plot, 100 pages at the end to tie up the plot, and 650 enjoyable pages in the middle, spent in the company of the characters from the previous five novels, where virtually nothig of note happens. Only Trollope could get away with it.
Particular highlights are the scenes at the palace when Josiah Crawley and Dr Tempest come to speak to the bishop and Mrs Proudie.
