Still funny, but 30 years later I find the book more tragic, than clever or profound. I was such a good little University student 30 years ago. I did my duty. I read the pop "intellectual" fiction of the time. "Oh yes!!!" I thought. "Life is absurd and perhaps meaningless? Even the most improbably coincidences are, of course, meaningless!!" This book is a curious and thought-provoking journey through the vast and mysterious universe, with amazingly crafted characters and metaphors with its underlying themes of technology, and the importance of an open mind, this a great read for science fiction and just to be entertained and enlightened.

Extremely funny. The theory about misplaced pens, and dolphin communication had me laughing out loud. Entertaining story. Why didn't I read it sooner?
