This book was not on my radar and came to me through recommendations here on Goodreads and I'm so grateful for that. This was a raw heartfelt read and I can't recommend it enough. The biggest takeaway for me was how dangerous it is to try to live our unfulfilled dreams through our kids, insted of letting them blossom in to there own wants and needs. Highly recommend the audiobook for this one as it is read by Jannette McCurdy. ...more

This was the best and the hardest read I have come across. This is my first ever memoir that I have picked up and the bar was set pretty high.

I never really grew up watching iCarly because I was more interested in Scooby Doo and M.A.S.H. Anything that I can get free on antenna tv. But I did know of the show growing up and at least watched a show or two.

Basically this is a detailed account of childhood stardom and how she got there. Jeanneat McCurdy describes it in a way that

“I’m Glad My Mom Died,” is a real, raw, and honest memoir of the former Nickelodeon child star, Jennette McCurdy. She is best known for her hit shows, “iCarly” and “Sam & Cat.”

This slow-burn memoir revolves around the harsh and demanding life Jennette McCurdy went through with eating disorders, mental health, child abuse, Hollywood lifestyle traumas, and her complicated relationships - especially with her mother.
The whole book is frustrating and devastating, but Jennette does a fantastic job tel

I knew when this was released that I’d have to read it eventually. Then I saw that Spotify now offers Audiobooks & decided I’d like to try one out. Seeing that Jennette voiced this herself convinced me that “I’m Glad My Mom Died” would be the first audiobook I listen to. I’m so glad it was.

We’ve all heard it a million times by now: you don’t know what battles people are fighting, what demons they’re seeing, or what they’ve recovered from underneath the masks they wear.

This book is a perfect example of that: Jennette was an icon of our generation yet I can’t imagine that a single one of us would’ve imagined or taken the time to consider that she’s just as screwed up as the rest of us.

I’m Glad My Mom Died shocks you to your core. It’s honestly, at times, the stuff of nightmares and

A book that sucked me in from the first page, allowing me to finish it in one sitting.

I'm Glad My Mom Died pulls no punches. Readers are given an inside look into the horribly abusive environment Jennette grew up in, ranging from her mother, to The Creator. Jeanette expertly guides readers through her thought processes in the moment while concurrently sliding in commentary from the current day. We get to see the unhealthy relationships Jennette had with food, her mother, acting, and romantic rel

we never know what people are going through and this book, this story is the proof of it.

it was hard reading it not because it was written in a difficult-to-read way but because it was hard to understand how someone, a human being, could do that much harm to another one, to a loved one, to a little girl, to her daughter.

Oh my, if I could give this book 1000 stars I would. I ended up listening to the audiobook, which I loved so much. Having Jennette read it was so moving. Everyone should read this book, given you understand the trigger warnings associated with it.
