I LOVED this book. I don’t even know what to say other than that, and that it’s absolutely one of my favorite reads of 2024. Surprising, because I’m not the biggest games and trials girl, so that says a lot about how incredible this book is.
Our FMC is impeccable in her struggles and growth, and the author does so well taking us on that journey. Our MMC is a green flag with an edge and I. Am. Here. For it.

Here is the deal, I started reading this in-between having read ACOMAF, while waiting for Amazon to ship me ACOWAR. I think that was the wrong thing to do. I also wonder about these five star reviews…because this book feels like the wish version of A Court of series. I know it’s vampires but you also have a place called ‘the house of night’ and a similar fantasy vibe to the other series. They even say ‘thank the gods’ just like Pythian dialog does.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night was like if the Hunger games and A Court of Thorns and Roses had a vampire baby, and I loved it. It was fast paced, emotional, romantic, thrilling, and a glimpse into some neat world building. Since this book mostly focused on a competition in an arena, it only hints at the world and politics going on around it, but I am eager to continue the series and see more unfold.
