Charmaine Edwards | 5 comments I thought there'd be more vampy books considering twilights popularization of them, but most l've found have fallen flat or are just outright wattpad-type fanfics ( I was wondering if anyone had any vampire books that give off similar vibes to Jay Kristoff's "Empire of the Vampire" because I thoroughly enjoyed that read and am cravingggg for smth similar to that. I currently have "The Serpent and the Wings of Night" duology (alongside the novella and Carissa's other vamp book) and "The Scarlet Veil" on my bookshelf soooo any other adult vampy recs?? If any of you guys have watched the show ‘Castlevania’ I mean vibes like THAT, lol (if ur a vamp fan, watch Castlevania if you haven’t btw🤭) Even if not vampire, anything gothic really so long as it contains that same kind of style.

i’m reading blood orange right now! it’s part of a dark academia, dracula retelling duology, and i’m loving it so far! i’m 56% through, but should be done within the next day or so, and i’ll post a full review to my profile if you’re interested. :)

Aila | 31 comments Have you not tried our dark queen of vampire books, Anne rice? Like the genre wouldn’t be where it is today without her, and there’s a ton of them. Smutty… not so much but a lot are great. You start with interview with the vampire, which has a lot of differences from the movie, but if you are familiar with the movie and want the next chapter, the vampire lestat.

Her other series about the Mayfair witches also fits your gothy wants.

And if you haven’t tried Anne bishop’s black jewel series it’s also a dark fantasy/gothic series, and one that Maas heavily borrowed from for her acotor series. I’d say it’s pretty castlevania feeling at times.
