I really loved this book. I do not give 5 stars very often, but I think this one definitely deserves it. I loved the author's writing. He created such great characters and the plot was very interesting. This is a book that really makes you think and contemplate who we are and why. I loved everything about this book. It is very hard for me to put into words why I loved this book.

Oh, this book just has such a fond place in my heart, and it always will. I read this for the first time not long after it came out in 2012 (wait, I'm sorry, it's been NINE YEARS since it came out?!?!?!?). I received a copy of the sequel, Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World from Netgalley, but in order to set myself up for success, I wanted to reread the first book - I hardly remembered any of the characters or what happens in the story. I wanted to be blown away by this, but it took me quite some time to get into it. If I’d read it as a teen I think I would have loved it, but as an adult, parts fell flat for me. It is, however, a sweet and complicated relationship between two boys and it looks like there may be a sequel out soon, which I will definitely read.

Ugh. I love this book. Ari and Dante and, eventually, Legs. Their parents. Their friendship. The fact that they're romantic relationship was just so fucking effortless, so natural, so sweet. Just, I don't know. I loved everything about this book. I love that Dante seems so sure of himself, but because of who he's attracted to, he's scared shitless about what it means but he's so stubborn to not let it deter him. And Ari. Listened to this one - read by Lin-Manuel Miranda (which made it more fun to listen to in my opinion). Story of 2 boys and the friendship that started with swimming lessons and our story ended after their second summer of adventures. I liked it, not sure why it was on my list though!
