I thought this was basically just delightful - funny and funny and really fast-moving and really quite touching in parts. I loved Sophie and particularly that her character is elderly for the majority of the book.

At points reading this I thought it would be a 3 star book but then came the wonderful ending when all the threads are woven together so satisfactorily....
I really enjoyed this. The characters are fun (although from time to time I wanted to shake Sophie) and flawed just enough. My only complaint is that I found it could have been shortened in places. I'm up for reading the sequel though, and I definitely want to see the movie now

This is an enjoyably strange fairytale, and I especially like how the young "elder sister" is in the form of an old woman throughout most of the book.
