I delayed reading this for years after its publication because I think I was afraid I’d be utterly disappointed in it. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite novels ever, the perfect blend of characters and setting, a novel with themes of import captured by a small stage. No spoilers here - this book has already been spoiled enough. And not just by the media - this was an obvious cash grab for Harper. Follow the money. But, I digress. "Go Set a Watchman" is simply a literary artifact. How anyone can actually "review" an artifact is beyond me - but there are no shortage of people out there doing just that. It is mainly made up of Scout's adult memories of her childhood. However it is a coming of age story as Scout learns there are no true idols.

I had a hard time getting through this book. The first of it was just boring. I had heard a lot about Atticus being a racists in this book and so I felt I had to finish it to find out if that was true. But I found the end a jumble of historical and literary allusions fromUncle Jack and the argument between Scout and Atticus was also difficult to understand.
