...more

4.5 stars, rounded up. What an incredible story of survival and human solidarity.
I had to take off that half star because of Mark's characterization. He was so damn cheerful, all the way through the book. This was great fun, and his humor, to me was amazing, but he was stuck, on Mars, for over a year. Potatoes and disco. Hehehe.

The Martian is in the first class of modern science fiction: thrilling, fascinating and scientifically accurate. Andy Weir's debut novel is a must-read for fans of the genre and also the general reader, as its wonderfully human narrative is totally gripping. I can't wait for Ridley Scott's upcoming film based on the book. ...more
