Such an unforgettable read. Sometimes the maths went over my head a little, but it was fascinating to see how Mark solved his problems using science- shows just how amazing it is.

science

I'm glad that the author decided to have a break in the narrative by including sections from the perspective of other characters i.e. Houston and the other astronauts.

The book was exciting, incredibly well researched and I just couldn't put it down. Now I'm all ready for when the movie is released.

I really do not understand how this book is a best seller. I have not seen the movie and after reading the book I am not compelled to. The writing was dry, dry, dry as the red dust on Mars. There was no character development and really I had no interest in the survival of the main character.

I get that there is science involved but a writer of a novel, a fiction novel, should be able to make the science aspect interesting.

Thankfully this was a quick read.

I understand the people who didn't like this book, and I can see how the writing story can get annoying, but it wasn't enough to ruin it for me. This book was just plain good. If anything, I wish it were a bit longer so we could see the return home. It was generally funny, and always interesting, although predictable enough in the problem/solution/problem pattern. ...more

I'm not usually a Science Fiction reader; however, I enjoyed the suspenseful, cleverly written novel of Andy Weir. Cheering for Watney the whole way, I was engulfed in the plot and communications with NASA rounded the believability of the story.
I am looking forward to seeing the movie.
