*flaily hands* OHMIGOSH HOW MUCH DID I LOVE THIS BOOK??
Answer: A LOT.
It felt so REAL in every possible way. The characters were ALIVE, the science was understandable, the situation was believable, and I looooved Mark Watney's sense of humour. I cracked up laughing multiple times while reading this book. I don't do that very often.
This is one of those books I had to hug for a while after reaching the end. And now all I want to do is read it again. THAT'S HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK. ...more

That was amazing. I'd heard it was mathy and was expecting it to be a bit drier, more boring. Not the case at all. There's great tension and all the problems Mark faces seem realistic and probable. Loved the humour too.

Yup, I know it's unpopular. But I didn't really care for this book. Mark was great, although his sense of humor sometimes made it hard to get a lock down on how he was actually feeling about the situation.
The things that really brought this novel down were 1) the lack of characterization on other important characters, especially those on earth 2) the extreme scientific language and calculations.
