Poppy was a manipulative brat, borderline abusive IMO. generally the kids were unlikable and the story wasn't creepy. for example, like I don't get why the haunted doll would end up in a trash can hiding from the kids if she wanted them to bury her. I did like that it was about growing up and things changing, though. 2.5 stars tbh.

The Doll Bones by Holly Black
This book is about three kids who acquire a haunted doll. Zach, Poppy, and Alice have been friends for a long time and they decide to go on a quest to discover who the ghost girl who is visiting and communicating with Poppy is and hat happened to her. Not one of my favourite outings from Holly Black, it was strange but rather uninvolving and not one that ever really grabbed my attention and certainly it was a struggle to hold it. Black is an intestine author no doubt, with a somewhat varied output but certainly uneven and this one was for me not her finest hour.

Good story, I had searched for "Horror stories" which there's little chance this falls into that category, but still a quick, good story..
