I'm filing this one under "Awesome idea, poor execution." I was so excited about it at first! But then... there was Jeb. Or rather, there was much author-fangirling over Jeb. This made the main character come across as nothing more than a Mary Sue, and turned the focus of the story from Wonderland to "Which boy should I kiss??" UGH. No. Just no. I couldn't even finish it. ...more

Interesting enough take on the Wonderland story. I liked some of the darker interpretations of the characters.

However, it also reminded me why I am not so keen on YA. All the overblown language and emotions and melodrama. So, while.it was enjoyable enough, I probably won't be reading the sequels. ...more

So, I like the book, but I have to say, Morpheus is a way more interesting guy than Jeb. And honestly? That takes a lot, because the other trope I hate in this genre is the one where the guy lies and cheats and manipulates the heroine, but he actually really loves her, so it's fine. But it's a lot better than Jeb's pissing and moaning through the whole book. I really felt for Alyssa, though. 4 Stars for the creativity of this book. What a wonderful world Howard created. I really liked all the characters with all their flaws. The imagery was beautiful.

I don't know if this is actually a YA book or not, but that would be my one complaint...the romance was really juvenile and predictable. ...more

If I could give this 1/2 a star, I would. All the elements are here to make a fantastic re-telling of Alice in wonderland. Some excellent concepts that I found irresistible, including the beautiful cover!!!! Boy was I deceived. This was a mess. Alyssa, job, Morpheus all of them are just horrible characters, poorly developed and, egads, boring, boring, boring!!!! Too many descriptions of what they are wearing rather than spent storytelling. We get it, their artist types and goth. No need to overk ...more
