Divergent did not let up for a minute! It was action-packed, and actually had my heart going fast a few times - not a usual experience for me while reading. As a dystopia, it's not overly bleak, and is set in an interesting society. There are problems at both the personal and society levels, and plenty of growth happening for the main character, with changes in the forecast for the society as well. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to picking up the next one. ...more

Ah !

When I read a story, I don't get caught up in whether or not I agree with the politics, but whether or not I enjoy the story and can understand the character's decisions based on the situations. I could understand Beatrice's inner turmoil and desire to explore parts of herself that differ from her family's expec ...more

Thanks to certain similarities with The Hunger Games trilogy, I was able to embrace this Dystopian world with much more ease than I have in previous books. Excellent read, though the book really has such an open ending to it that it can not quite stand entirely on it's own in my opinion. There was no way I would have ever felt satisfied without reading it's sequel, because there is no sense of completion in this book for me. ...more

I saw the movie first which is a big no no in my house of readers! I loved the book and seeing Four before I read it certainly did not hurt me at all! Great read, starting Insurgent right now!!
