Never have my Western morals, pre-conceptions and beliefs been more challenged than when reading Stiff. No one wants to consider their own mortality and make any arrangements for the afterlives of their bodies. Being confronted with the cold hard reality of nature, science and history of death was an uncomfortable, disgusting and enlightening experience. Honestly, the only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 2 is due to some interesting facts. Other than that, I found this book to be fairly gross and it takes a lot to get me to feel that way.
This is about Mary roach's research into what becomes of cadavers from how they decompose to what they are used for when donated to science.
