The Klan, racism, crooked cops, death and destruction - all placed in the rural south. That is Joys current book. Although not my favorite David Joy book, it is a good one. A community still fighting the confederacy, influential people hiding secrets, and people harassed because they look guilty. There are so many great reviews for this novel already, I will instead share one of the most remarkable passages. Without revealing any spoilers, I will preface this by stating that Toya is a 24 year old grad student studying art. Here she is discussing whether art has to be a permanent and / or in a fixed place like a museum OR can it be temporary and / or moving and be just as important.
