A very original post-apocalypse story. A not so brave new world, but a fascinating and very authentically rendered one nevertheless, created by the author. The only negative is that the book was put together from five original novellas and would have benefited with some editing to tighten up the story into a whole as it's a little sloppy and repetitive in places. Great dystopian novel - I couldn't put it down! The world outside is toxic and the surviving people are living in a silo underground. Punishment for a crime is to be send outside in a "spacesuit" to die, but first you have to clean the lenses of the windows to the silo (called being sent to cleaning). The politics and rules of the silo are very interesting.
