I really enjoyed the two previous books by this author (The Breakdown and Behind Closed Doors) so was looking forward to reading this. However, it didn't quite mange to pull off the psychological web of lies and deceit that made the first two books so memorable.
The opening scene is terrific and full of promise for a thrilling read. Finn McQuaid and his girlfriend Layla are driving back to their home in Devon after a skiing holiday in France when Finn pulls into a picnic spot to use the toilets. ...more

Another hit for B.A Paris! She has produced another domestic thriller. This one started out with Finn and Layla on a roadtrip and stopped at a rest area. He goes to the restrooom and comes back to find the car door open and Layla has disappeared. Twelve years later Finn is getting ready to marry Layla's sister, Ellen; except there are things happening that make Finn think Layla may be back. Is she really back or is someone trying to stop his wedding to Ellen? Who is behind all the Russian dolls

3 Stars -- a solid read. I liked the alternating viewpoints. It kept me guessing just enough that even when I was pretty sure I had figured out what was going on, I was never *really* sure. This was a slower paced book than the author's previous books. I thought the middle section (with the countdown) drug a bit. Not my favorite book of summer, but worth the read.

What a disappointment, B. A. Paris! I loved the author's first book Behind Closed Doors and enjoyed her second book, The Breakdown, but this was such a let down. Going in towards the end of the book, I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. It had been fast reading and kept my interest and while it wasn't wowing me, I was enjoying my time spent with the story. The writing wasn't as good as her other books, but the storyline grabbed me inititally and the characters were interesting enough, although not

I rarely give 1 star ratings since I don’t finish books that I’m not enjoying. Since I received the book for free as a Goodreads giveaway, I felt obligated to finish it. I have seen other friends of mine who really liked the book, so there is obviously something in it for some readers!
My problems with the book:
I thought the plot was unrealistic and the voice of Finn was not credible. His first person narration sounded more like what I would expect of a female character. I’m not a big fan of thr ...more

I received the Advance Reader's Edition from St. Martin's Press.
Twelve years ago, Layla disappeared from a rest area while Finn was in the restroom. While initially a suspect in her disappearance, Finn is cleared despite his not being totally honest with investigators.
Now Finn has moved on and is in love and living with Ellen, Layla's sister. Shortly after their engagement is announced, Ellen finds a long lost Russian doll that she swears Layla took when they were children. Other clues lead Finn ...more

Another great twister from B.A. Paris!
I was able to pick up the clues and I guessed what was going on, but I did not expect the ending (and I definitely liked how it ended)! Paris doesn't waste her time on rainbows and unicorns. No, her characters are twisted, cruel, and calculating (even the good ones reveal a hidden depth for survival). Her plots are layered and full of the perfect balance of clues and dead ends. Combined, these make for great reads. In that aspect, Bring Me Back was as as thr ...more

This story was fast paced and kept my interest. It was fairly easy to figure out the mystery, but overall it was a good book. Still no comparison to Behind Closed Doors though.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars for the very twisted novel by B A Paris…and after you’ve sat with it for awhile, quite sad too.
