This Book is Excellent! I was so impressed with this story of such a notorious Real Life Serial Killer only being referred to as The Defendant. This is a great Feminist look at how the Victims of this man’s crimes acted and the impact that had. It starts with Pamela Schumacher waking to noise in the Sorority she is in charge of. I am not going to reiterate the synopsis or say anything specific about this book.. All I can say is WOW!!! The take-away I received from this book is "complicated grief". And it's not just for death. I had to stop reading a few times because of the real emotions of the characters felt.... familiar. I felt like I was listening to one of my friends.

Yes it's about getting a serial killer. But it is also about friendship, rejection, acceptance, loyalty and true love..

Jessica Knoll has been a mixed bag for me. I really liked one of the books I read of hers and really disliked another one. So Bright Young Women was the third novel I have read by the author and am happy to say it falls into the "really liked" category. After my bad experience, I had been tempted to just pass on her future works, but I did stop to read the description, and immediately knew I was interested enough to give the author another go.
